someone may have wired around it. look for some red wires with black stripes on them up in that area to see what they go to. they may be tied together or they may be looped back to each other. there should be a set of four of them i think.

as an aside from topic I had a 70 with 302 and the NSS was how you started the truck... turn key and slide it over til truck started, at least it looks like that pic of NSS.

yup, its bypassed, the two red/black wires have been tied together by the previous owner. But this doesn't explain why my truck started when I put it in neutral.

atleast thats been eliminated as the probelm. unless the wires werent contacting at that particular time. it could be the relay on the fender. or a loose connection in the start ssytem. it could also be the switch is just loose itself.

ah then it could be a connection not making proper contact that time because o fthe relay change. or it could be soemthing else. its hard to tell until it happens again.
