Nu-Relics Power window conversion

Post by Happy_Camper »

Not sure if any of you have seen this setup, but it looks pretty cool, and has gotten some great reviews for different cars.
I just ordered a set for the old Mustang, but it will be a while before they get installed (too much other stuff to do first  )

 OK i definitely want one of those ... much safer than unhooking the seat belt and leaning over to roll the window down at 60mph lol

I like it, but better not ever let anyone in your truck. The moment they jump in it and wrench on the window crank there goes that switch.

Just got a set for the Mustang, and the handle would break before the switch breaks. The stops are internal to the aluminum blocks. The switches themselves ride on cams. Pretty darned solid unit.

Is this company new? I know several years ago I saw this type of set up for old street rods. I think the price for this is much better than I recall the other being.
One note about the website.. it is pretty skimpy.
Happy_Camper, think you could post a pic of your kit....

I *think* they've been around in the hot-rod industry for ten years or more. It seems they are branching out. My guess is that if someone has a car that has not been done, and is willing to let them use it for mock up, they'll add a new addition.
The lady at Nu-Relics said, their web site is pretty weak. They are busy with all the shows, and trying to build and install product. All they do is electric windows, so they want to have focus on their product and reputation.
Here is a picture of a complete kit, with the window crank switches. Mine is boxed up, and on the "projects shelf".
Hth,

Scott

My '69 F250 is going to get power windows. I'm going with these:
http://electric-life.com/shopexd.asp?id=1082

It says "Modifications necessary." I don't know what modifications they mean, other than a hole so the wiring harness can plug into the switch. Bolts right in place of the stock regulator.

Hey Flyboy,

Have you checked with people who run the E-L windows on the trucks?
Reason I ask, is for the Mustang they have a terrible reputation. The biggest complaint is they are too fast, and lack torque.
I have no idea if that would be the same for a truck, but this stuff is pretty pricey, and it would be a drag to go through all that work and not be happy.
Just something to consider.
