Truck Wouldn't Quit Starting

Post by FordTruck »

This has just recently started. I'll be crusing down the road and the starter will just start going off and I can turn the switch off and pull the key out and it'll just keep doing that. I thought it was my switch so I pulled my 72's and switched it and today I was tracing down my gas gauge wire and the truck wasn't running and the key was off and it started doing it again so I wiggled around the key and it didn't stop so I unplugged the switch. Could there be a wire crossed somewhere? All I've done wiring wise is switched out the old harness for another 70 harness installed a tach,GM 1 wire alt,and volt gauge. If it looks like it's gonna be a hard thing to fix I've got a whole nother 72 harness that I can install if I have too.

i was going to say earlier that since you had two different harness in one of those truck before. that changing it out may be better off for you in the long run.

I think it was because now I've got a gas gauge too.

My 67 did this and tried to keep starting. I changed the starter. Problem fixed.
