Metra Kit for in dash cd

I got a quick question, will any stereo fit in that?

It is a plastic molded piece. I just looked at mine and there really isn't any room for modifying it. The opening is 2 1/8 by 7 1/8. Hope that helps. I would think most after market decks would fit.

If it's a single DIN stereo, which most aftermarket units are, it should fit just fine. The sleeve for the stereo slides into the plastic piece, then push down the appropriate tabs on the sleeve to lock it to the plastic piece.

I was wondering how you did it, you have to cut the inner piece out. I don't have a dremel tool, but a heated knife should melt through right?

Uh oh, I have tabs on the top and bottom! Ill see if I can modify it to work, hopefully.

Top and bottom of what, the stereo sleeve? Just use a couple of the bottom ones and a couple of the top ones. You'll be set.

But isnt the tabs on the metra kit on the side? I dont know what I could screw through.

Yes, the metal tabs from my dash are on top and bottom, ill just spot weld some tabs on the side.

Hmmm. I've never heard of that setup before.
You should be able to weld some metal tabs on there, though. Good luck with your project! :thup:

Thanks, yea I know. Everyone told me all 67-72s had side tabs. Its really wierd.
