Re: Wire for radio?
In my two 70's, the fuse box has 2 tabs for accessories. I ran one wire to that to work for the ignition controlled wire and spliced into the cigarette lighter hot wire for constant 12 volts for the memory wire. I just put inline fuse holdersin the wires. Depending on how your wiring is, you might be able to find the original radio wires and tie into them. Looking at my fuse block, there is no fuse directly for the radio. Hope that helps

Why is it that the trucks are always the best running vehicles in the family?

radio power wire is brown. it doesnt even show it on the diagrams though.
Re: Wire for radio?
Ok, so I got 2 tabs on the side of my fuse box. They don't look like fuses, is that what your talking about?

Re: Wire for radio?
the brown wire is the one you want. it shoul dbe right behind the radio opening. it will shut off with the key.
Re: Wire for radio?
Well I have a brown wire, but it runs to the heater I think. Let me check, but is there only 1 brown wire running to the fuse box? So I could just use that?
Re: Wire for radio?
Ok I had 1 brown heater wire, which had no power coming ever. It was a heater wire. But I do have an accessory tab that is an ignition tab. So thats good, and then for the memory just run to the cigarette lighter. And probably put an inline fuse off that tab?
Re: Wire for radio?
Well found out that the radio wire wasnt running any power from the fuse. So I cut it and wrapped it around the end of the fuse, works now =). Slowly getting the hang of wiring.

Doesn't sound like it if you wrapped the wire around the fuse...

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

Re: Wire for radio?
Well thanks jerk LOL, the wire wasn't running any power, and I don't have what I need to put a whole new wire in the fuse box. I cut it off at the box and it wasn't running any power. So the wire must of not been connected or something. But I have a fuse box coming from a bud, so I can rewire everything so its factory. Sometimes 70_f100 you got to do what you have too if you don't have the money or the tools.

Re: Wire for radio?
The last thing you want to do is "rig" wiring.
It's a good way to lose a truck and anything around it.
You can call me "jerk" if you want to, but you're the one doing the half-assed wiring job.
At 56 years old, I've been called a lot worse in my time, but I've never been called a dumb ass...

Re: Wire for radio?
Uhh, I have too. But if you have to rig something for a temporary job because you sorta have to have it. I only half assed it because I didn't have the supplies I needed at the time, and if its -20 degrees outside you sort of need a heater. Thanks, Justin
