Front light operation

Post by audiquattro »

Just a quick questions. I searched for a similar post but no avail.

On my '68 the front running lights operate when in the running light (parking lights only) setting. When I turn the headlamps on the running lights turn off, I just have headlamps. Turn signals and tail lights work as normal. I think it makes the truck look older with just headlamps on at night, is this normal? Don't bug me either way just curious.

Thanks again!

Hey audiquattro,

That is exactly the way they are made to work.
Somewhere there is a post telling you how to bridge two wires on the light switch, then they will work in both positions like the new rigs do.
I did that on both my pickup and the bus.. it is super easy.
You just have to make a short jumper wire with two forked ends.
Then cut off one of the forks, and plug it into the back of the harness connector.
I just can't remember with two wires need to be bridged.
If you can't find that info. I'll look it up in my folder in the bus.
I started a folder of all the wiring i 've done to both the truck and the bus in case I have and problems in the future.

Thanks, you are the answer man!

I'll be leaving them the way they way they are, just wanted to verify how it should normally operate. By the way the odometer just did the 77777.7. I'll get to posting photos in a bit. I wish I knew if it 177,777 or 277,777...
