Thank you and yes, I made the dash insert.67MercM100 wrote:Two words: Wow! and Suuuweeet!
That is one wild shifter too!
You made the dash insert yourself?? Kewl!!
A couple of wonderings from a guy doing about "everything" to his truck...
Shifter boot: Does that normally go on above the carpet? If so, is it difficult to find the holes beneath the carpet? Or should I "screw the boot" before the carpet?
Did you put any of that insulation in the doors? I've (so far) got "Fat Mat" on my floorboards. But I'm thinking of maybe "slapping" a chunk of it on the inside of the outer door sheet metal. Possibly on the inside of the door panel too.
What has anyone done in this aspect?
More questions as they wander into my mind...
I'm assuming you mean the shifter??? No welding at all. It's a Lokar 32" 'Radical' shifter for a C6. My truck was originally a straight 6 with a floor-shifted 4 speed. A previous owner had swapped in a non power-steering automatic column (longer) along with a power steering gearbox and C6 trans. They had done some low quality craftsmanship to modify it to fit. The column/dash bracket had been broken off and re-welded lower on the housing bringing the steering wheel even closer to my body. The original 4 speed column was in the bed when I bought the truck and I found a pwr. steering inner shaft at the wrecking yard and rebuilt the whole column using new internals from LMC (it now could be considered a power steering 4 speed column). So now, I have a nice shifterless column and a floor-shifted C6 auto. Oh yeah...I also sourced an automatic brake pedal bracket and pedal and got rid of the unused clutch pedal.JMcTurnan wrote:Did you just weld it on the existing one?
From F100builder's post in the Projects Section:JMcTurnan wrote:Uh I actually meant the diamond plate on your dash insert. Did you weld it or how did you attach?
