Blinker switch wire colors....
Hey guys, i think i crossed some wire in the process of re-pinning my signal switch from the two connector style to the one connector style.
Could someone tell me what wires go where, and what colors they should be on both connectors?

Re: Blinker switch wire colors....
in a 71? match the colors from one side to the other. is this a new switch or the old one. here is some info i got when doing my 67. mine wasnt hooked up at all. the wires were just hanging there. the pritned pic. is the instructions that lmc has when yo ubuy one of thiere switches. they copied it off for me. this si for my 67. but is going to be close to the rest of the years. the wiring diagram page is www.fordification.com/wiring.htm but there arent any 71 diagrams on the site. so you have to look at both the 70 and 72 diagrams to make sure you have it right.

Re: Blinker switch wire colors....
This a new switch that came out of a 67 donor f350. I'm thinking this is the route of all my problems since my flashers work, and my parking lights work. Is there something i should check, I.E. power to the switch or ground? Which wires are those?

Re: Blinker switch wire colors....
To tell you the truth, i cant remember what worked and what didnt. I never drove it before it was parked (was my dads truck) and my dad doesnt remember. I replaced the switch because it got so worn out you had to hold it in the position you wanted it. The emergancy flashers always worked.

There's a good chance you're chasing your tail.
Do you know for sure that all of the lights worked correctly on the donor vehicle?
Do yourself a favor and replace the switch with a new one. I've seen a BUNCH of NOS switches on ebay lately go for less than $20.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

Re: Blinker switch wire colors....
the turn signal cam has two contacts in it. that can when lined up correctly give power to the turn signals. and when not lined up to turn the power passes though the rest of the spirng (im going to call it) it gives power to the brakes and or other lights.
anyway. if those contacts arent contacting the correct contact points inside of the turn signal switch it wont let a bunch of stuff work.
power comes from the fuse box to the hazard flasher can. and then to the brake light switch. out of the brake light switch with wire 810 (black with a red stripe)to the column. wire 810 also has a jumper wire that leads of fof it wire number 810A it goes to the hazard switch. that is where the power comes into the turn signal switch. from there everything for lighting comes off and gets its power from that wire. if that wire contact isnt contactign in the switch then your problem is in that switch.

Re: Blinker switch wire colors....
So i have .0080 VDC coming into my blinker switch connector through the red/black wire with the ignition on. When i turn the flashers on, it blinks between that and open.
