First thing I would do is pull on it lightly, see if its lose from something. Then I would run it down to the fuse box, i believe it says dome/bu lights on the fuse. Check the fuse, then test the wire on the fuse.

the power for the dome light comes from the fuse box throught the headlight switch and then to the door switches if so equipped.from the door switches to the dome light itself. if you do or dont have door switches then the headlight switch controls the dome light completely. with the turn of the knob of course. inside the headlight switch is a rheostat. that the knob when turned rides on. if that rheostat gets damaged it wotn let the light work with the turn of the knob. if you have door swithces the rehostat wotn matter. the dome light should still come on when the door open and the rheostat is bad. i think. i would start looking at a burned out bulb or the headlight switch as well as the fuse for the dome light. its the one in the upper left corner according to the book. i dont remember what fuse position is for what.

The plastic cover over my dome light had disintegrated so I bought one of the handcrafted ones from Ranchero. When I unscrewed the socket to install the cover, the light went out and it sparked a little around the edge of the socket. I put the cover on and tightened it and it works fine. I guess this means I have a short?
