Turn signal flasher

Post by albereri »

I have a '67 F250 and I have blinker problems. They work, but they seem to blink slowly. I thought I'd replace the flasher, so I was looking up under the dash for the little round canister. Turns out it's a big square box mounted above the brake pedal assembly. Anybody replace one of those? Maybe that's not the problem. Thanks for your help, this is a great forum !

square box? ignore that it mightbe a wiper swithc box for all i know. the turn signal flasher is moutned on the back drivers side of the instrument panel. to get a faster flasher use a hazard flasher in place of the turn signal flasher. i think its also known as a heavy duty flasher. which are usually put in when you want to haul a trailer with your truck.

It's very possible that your "square box" is a flasher if it was replaced with a TRUE "heavy duty" unit.

Can you get a photo of it?

That's the one. Thanks for the pic. I'm still looking for a replacement.

Just go to your local auto parts store and pick one up. Just ask for an electronic flasher, not the old "tin can" light duty units.

Yeah, a 'normal' flasher will plug right in to replace that. You don't have to find the exact one, I don't think you could if you wanted to. That's one of those '67 only things. Problem is I think that's for the hazard lights not the turn signals.
