newer seat opinion?
I am thinking of putting a newer year seat in my truck since my current one is filled with foam cushions to make it more comfortable. I've looked at the list of seats on here and have found a couple I like. For the guys who have done this, what year trucks did you get yours from and do you have a picture? Thanks

Re: newer seat opinion?
ive been watching for a good bench seat from the 90's trucks myself. they all have tears in them. myself i dotn liek bucket seats in a truck. they just dont give the same feel to the truck as do a bench seat. bucket seats seem more like soem sort of utility type of cab or a work type of cab. it reminds me more of soem farmer who took the bench seat out . so he could have room to put a big roll of bailing string between the seats. and a trash can that never gets used.

Re: newer seat opinion?
I don't really like bucket seats either in a truck but thats just me. Plus, the wife might put me in the doghouse since she likes sitting next to me in the truck. The newer seats just look like they might be more comfortable. I'll just keep searching junkyards and hopefully will get lucky.

What i have thought is with some light fabwork for a frame/subframe on the Newer F600/650's they have a bench with a fold down cup holder/clipboard document/CD holder area that doubles as a seat in the upright position. Gives you the bucket seat with the bench look and usability. plus a tiny storage space.

Re: newer seat opinion?
I was "hoping" that we'd see more mid to early 90's trucks showing up at the wreckers. But I haven't seen much out my way (northern Socialist Republik of Kalifornistan ). I've seen some nice covers for the mid 90s seats on eBay that weren't that expensive, so I'd even opt for a torn seat at this point, and just recover it.

Re: newer seat opinion?
not to steal the thread, but I have my eye on a 94-95ish extracab with a 60/40 split bench CFC turn in , will that bolt right into a 72 cab or will they need some mods?

Re: newer seat opinion?
if the seat tracks from your old seat plusa n extra pair will fit on to that seat then the old tracks will bolt right in to the original bolt holes. but the center tracks for the split bench will need to have new moutn holes made for it into the floor. the newer seat tracks wont botl directly to our floors. the newer seat tracks have abend to them at the front. because of the newer floors being bent where the seat tracks bolt up. i saw that yesterday on 91-95 truck. it was a full bench seat.

Re: newer seat opinion?
I've been considering a set of these:
Kind of spendy, but I really like the bench bottom and split backs - and getting them in the color I want.

Re: newer seat opinion?
i really like center consols in the seat. but i would not trade away my bench seat for anything. when you need a bed for one reason or another the seat is always there for you.

Re: newer seat opinion?
i think with that console in the pic there the console folds up into a seatback.

Re: newer seat opinion?
Yeah it does. It has the bench seat bottom, but the split backs/fold-down center - that's why I like it:

Re: newer seat opinion?
Just put 02 150 buckets in mine with the connector bench/ console piece. They are a pain to get in, but I love the comfort, seatbelts and looks. They are not a direct bolt or anywhere near it though.

Re: newer seat opinion?
I have thought about putting newer seats in my 71 F100 but I don't think I would like the ride. Our seats have springs in them that take a lot of the bumps out of the road in my thinking. The newer seats are all foam from what I see. I know my dad's 93 F150 supercab has the bucket seats with a console in the middle. It rides pretty good but I can sure tell a difference between the two.
Anybody else thought of that or think it would matter?
