wiring from firewall to sending units
I need wiring connector and wiring from the firewall to the water temp unit, oil pump and coil. I was sure I saw it in a parts catalog, butnow can't seem to locate anything even remotely close. Have any of you noticed something like this in your searches? I really do not want to salvage one or rig my old one with new wire. I am not a good electrician.
Thanks, Steve
Thanks, Steve

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

Hi 72bumbee!
In addition to the information in the thread mentioned by 70_F100, I heard from Robert (DuckRyder) that he's pretty sure the first part (with the black connector) is the best match.
I'll probably be replacing this miniature harness soon also! If I replace mine before you replace yours, I'll post photos and let you know how exact of a match it was.

Re: wiring from firewall to sending units
Thanks man. I get brain freeze when I start looking at wiring of any type. I have cross wired too many things, and have gotten more than one appliance to throw sparks and punch plugs out of sockets. HAHA! It all scares me I think!
As far as the starter thing goes. I have been ignoring it for the time being. I am considering buying a 72 camper special from a neighbor, and start morphing the best into one rig. I suppose it would make things more obvious to me. Now I know why my old neighbor used to like working on dads old 67 before he did anything to his 68 ranger!
Thanks!
Steve

I still can't tell where to go to get this harness, and what the price is. Is there a link to a web site or a catalog?

Re: wiring from firewall to sending units
Hey Steve! The company that has a reproduction of this harness is Mustangs Unlimited, and the part number is EGH18 01: "ENGINE GAUGE FEED HARNESS 69/70 390/428/429," and here's a photo of it from their site:
This URL should show you the Mustangs Unlimited site with the part picked out.

You may also want to buy replacements for the two metal and plastic loops that fasten this harness to the valve cover. I think I remember seeing them in the Mustangs Unlimited catalog, but I forgot to order these when I bought my harness!
I ordered mine yesterday, by the way. If you're not in a hurry, you could wait until I post detailed photos of the product to your thread when mine arrives--that way you'll know this is exactly what you're interested in (or not). But based on its photo, it looks like a pretty safe bet!

Re: wiring from firewall to sending units
Thank you sir!
I shall wait then and bookmark this site and wait to see how it goes for you. I saved all my clips from my valve covers, so I won't be needing those.
Thanks again!

Re: wiring from firewall to sending units
Hey Steve! It arrived and looks really great!
I'm not sure if you'll want to choose this exact part or not, since the connector that goes to the water temperature sender is a little bigger than the factory connector, so the connection there is loose. You'd have to replace that connector with the smaller one, or perhaps pinch it down a little bit with needle nose pliers to make it work.
Detailed photos of the new harness are here:

Thanks Steve!

Re: wiring from firewall to sending units
Thanks again for all the help.
I will just order it and see what I want to do with the temp connector when it gets here. I sure like the idea if having something that is plug and play! HAHA!
Thanks again Robroy!
