Need recommendations on carpeting

OK, I'm sitting down ordering interior parts today, and I need to order some carpeting. I want carpeting that goes all the way back to the tank, completely covering the under-seat area. I was reading this thread where it was stated that NPD carpeting does go all the way back, but tends to be a bit short up front and/or along the sides. I was hoping someone with experience getting carpeting from other vendors could point me to a set that fit nicely in all areas. I checked all the normal truck parts suppliers, and unfortunately none of them state any details about whether their products go all the way back, under the seat.

I also read several other threads with links to these sources, but the poster didn't give any feedback on actual fitment, and their websites weren't very helpful:

I used the AAC for my crewcab and it even goes all the way ack under where the tank used to be. I go the loop pile I belive. I picked mine up for 100 bucks and it had some insulation in some of the areas, the others I added it in. As far as fitment it was a pretty good fit and a little trimming to fit under the scuff plates. Yr and a half and it's holding up good. I gave it a thumbs up.

There you go with that 'fitment' word again....Actually,I realize now there's a difference between 'alignment' and 'fitment'....

Keith,on my boy's '69,he didn't mind deviating from the stock look a little bit and got that more modern 'plushy' looking carpeting....Anyway,he had the guy that did the seat do the carpeting,and it looks absolutely gorgeous...He just cut and stitched and glued from a roll of carpeting and the 'fitment' is just great....over the tranny hump,under the seat,...even the kick panels....When I can,I'll post pics,but the total cost for seat and carpet including materials was about $375....The seat was even done in two-tone vinyl(different color inserts)...

Keith I watched a fellow a week or so ago re doing a chebbie. He couldnt find carpet that fit right or priced right, so he bought a roll (piece) of black trunk carpet. It laid down really nicely no wrinkles or anything. Looked really good.

I just ordered from stock interiors for the Dodge. I was put off by the ACC site cause I hate having to log in to browse. I guess if they have crewcab carpets to go all the way back that I'll have to check them out though.
I'm thinking about this guy for seat covers for the Dodge seat I bought for the Shrektruck.

Thanks guys! I think I'll make a few phone calls tomorrow and talk to some sales departments to ensure that their products will suit my needs. I'll let you know how it turns out and how well the fitment is.

You're getting the 3" long shag purple carpet with the tiger stripe accents aren't you Keith?
Actually I've had good luck dealing with a local interior shop and getting a big blank and doing my own, like GT-Racer was saying, and it's turned out really well every time.

I ripped off the firewall cover and want to insulate/carpet it rather than put another firewall cover on there.

Have any of you bought carpet kits that would extend this far up? Or have you bought a kit that you could customize with some extra length for this?

I am going to have to agree with the AAC carpet the kit I got had plenty of extra and also came with pieces that go up under the side vents by your feet (cutting required) and a built in mat. Oh and if someone is looking for some gray carpet for a low humped floor I have some new in the box.

I used the make your own deal from a local carpet shop. I bought the black trunk type carpeting, they gave me padding with the deal. I put it in my Dad's 68 and it turned out great. That was 20 years ago...but that carpet is still in that truck.

Keith, I'm reviving an old thread to see what you ended up with for carpet. I'm looking for the same thing ... carpeting that covers the entire floor all the way back to the tank.
Who has purchased some that is good quality, fits well, and covers the whole floor?
