windshield washer switch
Dumb question,to get the washers to work does the switch need to be pulled out? I would assume that the switch has to be turned to one of the speeds to activate the the washer function. Also if the pump is shot are they available at parts stores or would I have to go through Ford or one of the restoration suppliers? The washer reservoir seems usable. Looks like fun to get the old pump out.

Re: windshield washer switch
the washer pump gets its power from the switch. if there is no power at the pump then there could be a bad switch or a bad connection between the switch and pump. if there is no power to the swithc then check the orange wire that powers the switch. it just plugs into main power fromt he 3 pronged power supply behind the dash cluster. make sure your fuse is good also. butthe swithc doesnt have to come out to do any testing. only to replace it.

Re: windshield washer switch
as far as getting a new pump. it depends on which type you have the 71/72 pumps are usually a stock item at the parts sotres. they used them in may year cars and truck up into the 80's/ if you have the 68-70 pump the vendors or ebay will be the only place to get one. if the resivor is bad or gets broken taking the pump out then you will have to get one from ebay or one of the vendors. i seen a 71/72 style on ebay i think with the pump for 24.99 plus shipping the other day.

Re: windshield washer switch
Pushing the switch in toward the dash activates it.
