radio removal

I have a 72 ranger xlt, The stock am radio quit working and I want to remove it and see if I can fix it. The truck has factory air, how do I get the radio out? I have alredy pulled the glove box liner out and pulled the knobs off and removed the nuts. Thanks

My 71 F100 doesn't have air conditioning so I don't know anything about that part. I took the glove box liner out and disconnected at least one of the heater duct hoses from the heater to get it out of the way. There is a bracket that goes from the center of the back of the radio to a support to the left of the radio. On the back of the radio the end where it connects it has a U shape so you may be able to just losten the nut on the back of the radio and lift it out. You'll need to remove the bazel and the thin nuts that hold the radio to the tabs on the front.

But i know that the factory air conditioner goes way up there under the dash making it twice as hard. You'll have to really fight it and disconnect some plugs on the top of the AC most likely to get it through the glovebox.

it is a very tight fit. you will have to remove the rear radio mount to get it to slide backwards enough and then you have to slide it cocked ways over into the glove box area to get it out through the glovebox hole.
