Some progress on my interior
I posted some pics of the redone bucket seats a couple of months ago...I just found this console at a boneyard and dyed it black...
You can see where the carpeting goes up to the back window in between the seats...The carpeting comes 40" wide at the automotive fabric store, which is certainly not wide enough to cover the floor unrolling it "north and south"...It takes two full rolls of carpet going 'east and west" to go the length from the firewall cover up the back over the gas tank and to the back window...with about an inch to spare...if that...The next pic shows the bordered seam where the two rolls of carpet join(Never mind the black dye getting scraped off of the hinge cover)...I won't post any close-ups of the fit around the trans tunnel yet because I have to pull the seats back out and stretch some of the wrinkes out and secure the carpet a little better...I've been procrastinating on this for a couple of years, but I think I'm finally getting a little more confidence in my "do it yourself work"...
Now, don't crucify me for blasphemy since the console came out of a C!@#y B!@@#@r, it just had the look I was after...You can see where the carpeting goes up to the back window in between the seats...The carpeting comes 40" wide at the automotive fabric store, which is certainly not wide enough to cover the floor unrolling it "north and south"...It takes two full rolls of carpet going 'east and west" to go the length from the firewall cover up the back over the gas tank and to the back window...with about an inch to spare...if that...The next pic shows the bordered seam where the two rolls of carpet join(Never mind the black dye getting scraped off of the hinge cover)...I won't post any close-ups of the fit around the trans tunnel yet because I have to pull the seats back out and stretch some of the wrinkes out and secure the carpet a little better...I've been procrastinating on this for a couple of years, but I think I'm finally getting a little more confidence in my "do it yourself work"...

I love what you did to your interior. Your door panels look very cool. Great job...

Re: Some progress on my interior
Here's a pic of the headliner I made along with my newly dyed sun visors...I'll have to pull the headliner back out ...Although it looks pretty decent in the pic, some of the pleats are crookeder 'n a dog's hind leg---but you have to really be looking to notice...The real problem is after sewing the pleats into 1/2" of foam, I simply stretched and stapled the pleated vinyl onto a sheet of 1/8 hardboard...I have to pull it back down and glue it to the backboard because it hangs down about an inch from the backer board and jiggles a little when you drive...
My old headliner had an off white metal frame, and I went with the chrome one from a junkyard....The chrome one's had seperate corner pieces, whereas the off white one's did not, so I had to drill a few more holes....It's a real pistol screwing in the headliner frame around the much thicker pleated headliner---I wouldn't recommend doing it near a church on Sunday morning....

Re: Some progress on my interior
Thanks, gentlemen, I appreciate the comments...I still have to carpet the kick panels and the lower doors(below the panels) and install my 8-track and then I'll be ready for the disco...
In the dumb and dumber department, the first day I installed my seats (not the first week...or the first month, the first day)...I drove the truck to do an elastomeric roof coating job...How that white coating got on the butt of my jeans is beyond me, but it sure found it's way onto the new seats...Took me a good hour to clean them off ...

Re: Some progress on my interior
Makes me just a little sick to my stomach. I had a set of those seats about 10 years ago tracks and all. They needed recovering. I figured I'd never use them and traded them for some wheels, I think.
Man I like the way they look! I sure messed up!
Looks great and I like the headliner also.

Re: Some progress on my interior
Thanks, ximy...Zakt, I used the whole assembly from the '79 Bronco...which was a real PIA because the floorpan on the Bronc was way different than the floor of my truck, so I had to use odd sized spacers and drill new holes in the floor...The one wierd thing about these Bronco seats is that the driver's seat back tilts forward when you pull a lever behind the seat, while the entire passenger seat---backrest and bottom---tilt forward when you pull a lever---I guess to allow easy access for passengers into the backseat of the Bronc, which of course, is not needed on our p/ups...

You know, I didnt like the bucket seats at first but they have sure grown on me. The carpet really finishes it off.
