No Brake lights/ Rear Flashers

Post by SteveBrethouwer »

Hey guys first time Poster here, love the information that you provide, makes for some pretty interesting reading, anyway, I own a 1971 f-100 automatic and and have lost my rear flashers and brake lights, I've already replaced the brake light switch and have tried to trace the wiring but, I not sure what wires out of the Turn signal switch are for the above mentioned? Everything else works on the rear, even the flashers if I hit the turn signal but, ONLY the side I turn too, I'm guessing it's the TSS but don't want to replace at $70.00 if I don't need too, any help would be much appreciated, farmer

did you check the fuse yet? the tss cam can be replaced on the tss. also but they arent always the best to replace just those. sometimes the contacts just wear out in the tss. the brake lights have power coming from the fuse box to the switch and then into the tss. it is just one short red wire from the fuse box to the switch. to me it sounds like it may be a loss of power issue but i could be wrong.

I've checked the fuses and installed a new brake switch, the switch seems to be working as it should, power on the solid red wire and power to the switch when brake pedal is applied/red wire with black, do you know what color wires on the tss operate the brake lights and rear flashers on my 71?
