Brake and rear turn signals suddenly gone?
I guess I don't recall checking the rear turn signals and brake lights after installing the headliner with speaker in it. All I did was tie the stereo into an key on terminal on the fuse block.
I checked the bulbs and the filaments aren't burned through.
I did just bleed the brake system but wouldn't know why that would have anything to do with it.
Everything else works fine.
Any ideas? Is there an inline fuse or relay to the rear signals and brakes?
Thanks.

Check your fuses.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???
That's not an oil leak That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

Re: Brake and rear turn signals suddenly gone?
All fuses are good. Front emergency flashers, front turn signals work. Rear flashers, signals, and brakes do not work.
Dome, cargo, instruments, headlights, radio also work.
Any ideas or suggestions on tracking down?
Thanks

Re: Brake and rear turn signals suddenly gone?
Hope this helps you help me...
Rear tail lights work, backup lamps work, license plate lamp works, and reverse lights work.
Now I'm just down to the rear turn signals and emergency flashers.
I tested for continuity at the sockets with the flasher switch on, and the turn signal engaged left and right - no continuity (duh).
Does this suggest anything? Turn signal switch?
Oh yeah...wipers work also.
Thanks.

Re: Brake and rear turn signals suddenly gone?
Brake lights, turn signals and flashers use the same filament in the bulb (same wiring to the rear).
Sounds like you may have a problem with the TSS.

trace the power coming out of the fuse box. the red wire goes to thebrakelight swithc. then either up into the column or over to the hazard switch. i cant remember right now. 1 of them is first then the other one. but both are in that circut. from the tss back out and to the brake lights. when yo ufind the place with no power you will have found it.

Re:OK..now just brake lights and E flasher gone.
I found the culprit for the rear turn signals..there's a small 2 wire male/female plug next to the big steering column plug.
The small one somehow came loose. Plugged it in and turn signals work.
Now I have no power on the red, or green wire at the TSS (they lit up yesterday when the brake was applied).
I also have no power at the flasher or the brake switch regardless of key position.
The fuse is good and lights up when tested regardless of key position (I assume this means constant power) but I can't see the power wire out of the fuse block to either the TSS or the flasher. The schematic says it's red/white.
I'm lost.

Re: Brake and rear turn signals suddenly gone?
I think I may have found it, but could really use some input.
I have a hot red at the stop/brake light switch, but no power on the red/black going to the female side of the TSS connector.
I also connected a jumper across the brake light switch female terminals (red to red/blk). This resulted in power at the female red/blk terminal of the TSS connector.
Replace the actual brake light switch on the brake pedal arm?
Thanks

Thanks fordman. That's what it was.
Now...if you're bored and want the next steering column based challenge, head on over to suspension.
