Hard window cranking

Hi, all...I recently installed different (used) vent window tracks, new anti-rattle kits and new felt all around the windows...I marked the three bolts where the old vent window tracks bolted into the inner-door skin, thinking it would help align them...I pulled the tracks and window mechanisms out and cleaned and oiled them, greased the rollers which looked pretty good, put everything back together, and now when I roll my windows up or down it feels like I'm trying to crank-start a Model A....Plus they're noisy...This is causing me considerable displeasure and annoyance...Anybody have any suggestions?...Thanks...

The new window felts and weather stipping will make the widows tighter and make them harder to roll up and down,but as far as noise I don't know unless somethings not adjusted right.

so the run channel os used? was the blot on the bottom adjusted the same as the old one was? what kind of noise is it? squeaking a grinding noise or somethign else?

Craig, I think I actually got those vent window channels from you...You told me the price included installation Now, that I looked again, I saw that there's only one bolt that holds the vent window channel at the bottom and four bolts that hold the window crank assembly...Anyway, I marked all of those so when I reassembled the damn thing they'd be somewhat lined up....The noise it makes is like a clicking sound,...like maybe the teeth and the sprocket aren't getting along very well....

that does sound like a bad sproket and gears. if you can find some new ones. that would be good. or if you can find a bad one and combine two of them to work that would work also. i wonder but i doubt it. if you could loosen the window regulator botls and roll the window part way up or down and then tighten the botls if that woudl relieve any pressure on the regulator or not.

Dry Silicone Spray seems to work wonders on the felt window stripping. It will loosen up the drag and they roll up and down quite a lot better after an application of the spray stuff.....my experience, anyway!

Sounds like the 'new wine in old wineskins' syndrome or something like putting new heads on an engine then discovering the rings are shot. Your regualator was matched to all the slack in the channels and now with the extra resistance shows how marginal it really is...

I dunked my old regulators in a plastic bucket full of Purple Power at strong mix and let them set in sun couple days while it was about 90 plus degrees, and pulled them out of that and packed the regulator with clear silicone grease or some other such "super lube" and then wire brushed the channel the roller runs in and greased it good w/while lithium grease and mine almost won't stay up due to lack of resistance and will roll up with couple fingers and almost no pressure.
Sounds like your plastic wheels (roller) is gone and you're metal to metal??? Banjo.
