Ok, here is where I'm at on turn signal repair. The turn signals will blink at the back of the truck on the hazard flasher. Installed new turn signal flasher (two by now as I thought first one might've went bad). Installed new fuze. Installed new turn signal switch (big bucks). Still no turn signals. I did post about a weird problem with the new switch but it turn out to be because the hazard on the replacement turn signal switch (it's for a 80 model) was partially pulled out and I didn't catch it. Once it was pushed fully in, back to square one, no turn signals.
I need suggestions please. I think tomorrow, I'll pull the battery ground and the fuze and wire brush the crap out of the fuze holder for that circuit, as I've already tried electrical contact cleaner. Should I try to run yet another ground from steering column to firewall to battery or chassis? I think I've got at least two ground straps, as I'm paranoid. I just can't figure this out, truck had no real electrical problems till I installed the updated headlight wiring harness, and I did all that per instructions w/relays included and all.....but I have noticed (since then) I had to replace ignition switch and not fighting turn signal problems. I figure it's just coincidental??
I matched up all the color coded wires of the new switch to the one that was in there before (late 70s column) and they are all identical colors/location, and since it worked before I'm confused why not now??? I did notice a small amount of rust on the fuze blade holder, when I replaced fuze, which is why I think I'll wire brush it and use dielectric grease on fuze tips upon reinstall. Getting real frustrating. Wasn't so aggravating till I dropped $83 plus tax on a switch that's still not working....

You need to use a TEST LIGHT and check where the power is and isn't... The Black/red stripped wire from the fuse box should have power on it with the key on. Then it should have power on the Blue wire from the TS flasher to the TSS.
There also is NO grounding needed for the TSS, the grounding is done at the light sockets so if your brake lights / marker lights work then there is no ground issue.
Also, the Emergency flashers are a complete different circuit from the Turn Signals, only thing related is some of the wires and lights if it were to get shorted (Emergency flashers) then it could cause a problem with the TS working at all.

Re: back to square one with turn signals/blinkers
Quick follow-up, thanks to the post about the color of the wiring, I traced it and found a less than stellar connection and once that was fixed my turn signals once again work. Guess the $80 turn signal switch was a good lesson in assuming without breaking out voltmeter and tracing voltage. I'm very thankful I installed one of the "loud" flashers while I was working on this, because maybe now I can hear when the turn signal doesn't switch off instead of noticing it sometime later. I thank you all for your time and patience to try to help me resolve this frustration. Thanks again, Banjo.
