Bill's pic shows the routing without the carb heater. The pics you posted show the heater installed and hooked up. They looked a little odd to be however, so I found this pic of mine, it's not the best pic, but you can see the "T" on mine is to the right near the control valve. I'm not 100% sure that mine is the stock method of doing it, I'm sure they both work fine, but I think mine looks less cluttered.

Looks like mine is not the correct way, I looked up the engine pics of that 358 mile Ford and found it coincides with the first pics:

so i disassembled the heater box and cleaned that all up. took the core out and filled it with water, no leaks. then took it to work and put ran it on the coolant flush machine to eliminate any flow issues. the fan works fine as well as i hooked it up to a battery and it spins like it should. flat blacked the housing and put it all back together. my store (pep boys) actualld had the control valve in stock, grabbed that and some 5/8 heater hose and got it installed. only thing i need to do is get an adaptor to go from 5/8 tube to 3/4 tube. ive got a 302 in the truck and the one tube on the water pump is 3/4, not 5/8. no big deal. the truck still had the cables in it so i will get those attached. last question i have is the incoming air vent, where does it connect to?

i see someone bid i wasnt sure who it was. i was guessing it may have been someone on the forums. i think it was fate. i didnt do much ebaying today. it was cold outside. and i didnt want to get my hands wet in gasoline when it was cold outside.

That is one thing I have never had a problem with is heat in my 71 F100. Always had plenty of heat. Now the defrost system could use some work. Works great on the center of the windshield but doesn't do squat for the sides of the windshield or the side windows. Long as you have the right thermostat and the heater core isn't blcoked these old trucks WILL run you out of the cab with heat.
