New Seat Upholstery

Post by garner67 »

Today, I took the first big step in changing my interior from Red to Black.

I just picked up my newly reupholstered bench seat. I think it turned out excellent. If anyone needs a good upholstery guy in the SF bay area, let me know. I'm really happy with quality AND price ($300) for new foam, matte backing and cover material. I selected the exact materials I wanted, and I selected the pattern layout, too. All the work was done in 4 days!

Overall, I'm very pleased. I was happy to pay a few extra bucks to have a pro do it, instead of me trying to recover it with a kit... which would have cost over $225 + shipping.

Whatcha think?

I got mine done in black vinyl for $250. If anyone in Central Texas (near Austin) needs an upholsterer, this guy did a good job.

Funny, the upholstery shop just around the corner from my house in San Leandro wanted $700 to recover the seat, and that wouldn't include new foam. After getting that quote, I was all prepared to do it myself with one of the kits.

Then, a friend who is into hot rods, gave me a referral to the guy I used. I guess you gotta just shop around to find the right shop.

I think your seat looks fantastic! Where did you get it done? I'm in Walnut Creek.

The interior guy is Abel @ Express Auto Upholstery, and he's in Vallejo... which isn't too far from Walnut Creek. It's a very modest one man operation, but he does great work.

Here's his number 707-655-0769

Tell him Mike with the 71 F-100 sent you.
