Could someone measure the dimensions uder their seat

Post by 1971 golfer »

I have a '71 custom if that makes a difference. i would like someone if the could to measure the height, width and length of the space under their seat before the middle bump (I'm assuming it's the same on both the drivers and passenger side). Also could you please tell me the dimensions of the space under the seat in the center where bump is (if there is any space) this isn't as important. The reason I am asking this is because my truck is in my grandparents garage for the winter and I am looking at maybe getting a subwoofer.

Thanks in advance for your help everyone,
Jake

under the seat is flat all the way across. the hump ends right where the seat begins. there are soem raised spots under each side of the seat. but i think they are only up about 1/2 inch. do you want the edge of the seat to the floor? so you can slide it in and out or the whole area up to the bottom of the springs?

Is there a wire that runs between the latches on the seat rail that might interfere with a speaker box? Seems like I remember feeling a wire when I last stuck my arm under there.

What's the matter, is there barely any space under there from something sagging out the seat?

Can someone post a picture of under your seat maybe so i can have a visual of what your talking about... I trust your judgement on how it would work i just want an estimated space so that i have an idea of what could get, I'm not actually going to get anything until it warms up again here in michigan. I just want to know measurements so i can look at what i might be able to get and to know what I'm looking for.

I was able to slide a box under the seat that measured 10x12x3 inches. The wire is in the way so you would have more room if you put the seat where you wanted it and then removed the wire. The front of the box will need to be supported by a block because it does not rest on the shelf under the seat. There is a little more width under the drivers side.
