1971 F250 Neutral Safety Switch Help?

Post by dwildey »

My Neutral Safety Switch is gone and the previous owner jumped the wires so the truck will start. The bad news is that it starts in gear! Obviously I want to get this fixed.

I am missing the 7B097 and the 7A247 parts shown below for the safety switch.

My question is how does the 7B097 attach to the shaft and is it something I can easily pull from a junked truck? Is it Plastic / Metal, does it Thread or snap in? Any info on how to obtain one would be helpful! I don't see the 7B097 available online but am going to the junk yard next week for some other goodies.

the 7bo97 is a metal tang that snaps into the column housing. they can be gotten from any automatic column from 65-77. the nss switch it self is held on with two 5/16 socket headed screws and can be goten from the same column. make sure to cut of the wiring harness part that you need for your truck when doing this. that way you can fix what the po did to it.
