Dwell Setting ?
I was gonna set my points Dwell but there seems to be several different opinions as to what it should be set at. After a search on here, I still have no definite answer. I get the idea it's about 34. It's on a 71 model with a 300-6. Can anyone confirm that ?

Thanks. Maybe that will make it run a little better.

Not only will it run better, but your points will last a lot longer.

Re: Dwell Setting ?
A falsehood that got promoted to an Urban myth. Proper gap will not make them wear slower, too small a gap and I mean really too small might wear the points rubbing block off faster but barely and then only without points grease.
If the condenser and the coil are mismatched the points will burn faster and the peak that builds up the point's face will point to the low value component. To prevent internal arcing point systems use an LC Network. LC L = Inductance or the coil's resistance to electrical flow, C= capacitance the condenser's ability to store electrical energy.
As soon as you switch to a non stock coil the condenser will be the wrong value.
