67 f100 brake and turn signal wiring

Hi all, I am new to the sight and really hope someone has the answer to this one. I had to rewire my turn signals and brake lights since previous owner cut it all up. The brake lights work good and the turn signals do to, and with the seprate relays I put in for left and right the brake light and turn signal work together. I thought it was all good then I turned the headlights on and the turn signals no longer work....the brake lights still work though. I am sending 12v. to the relays from the hot to brake switch and turning the coils on threw the flasher, again it all works until the headlights are turned on. Let me know what you think..

Sounds like you tied the turn signals into the park/marker light wires, the turn signals operate on the same wire as the brake lights (rear) and there own separate circuit on the front.
I'm not sure what you got going with the relays on them. :hmm:

thanks for the response, I put the relays in one on each side for the left and right turn signals and what happens is when I activate the on off on togle it sends the lights to the right or left but lets the brake light on the other side stay lit. It all works really good but when I turn on the headlights it knocks out the flasher or pulsing voltage away from the input of the toggle. I thought the headlights were a totally seperate deal. Just to recap..... everything works as it should until the headlights are turned on then I loose the pulsing power from the flasher....Thanks for the help :fr:

when a light goes from blinking to soild. it is because the wires are gettign full power instead of alternating power. something is crossign over to the turn signals when you turn the headlights on. the park light power does coem from the headlight switch. so like shayne said maybe soemthing is backwards. or maybe its feeding backwards. what are these relays suppose to do? i mean did you want them brighter or soemthing?

Been thinking on this... If you are using the output from the "Flasher" to control the ON/OFF (switching) signal of the relay (as I'm understanding it) then my guess is that the relays have just barely enough drain (current draw) to activate the flashers pulse. Then when you turn on the headlights there is enough of a Voltage drop in the power to the flasher, that it lowers the current flow enough that the flasher will no longer work.
The reason of the Voltage drop is that the power wire in our trucks is underrated , when you turn on the headlights the voltage to everything else in the whole truck drops considerably...
You could try an electronic type Flasher, they are made to work with LED lights that use very little current flow. :2cents:

Sounds like you need some blinker fluid. :lol: But maybe it has something to do with the headlight dimmer switch. That can really mess with the lights. Good luck :2cents:

I gotta ask: Why did you decide to wire it with two separate relays rather than the stock method?
