Hello everyone
Slowly getting my truck all ready and one fix leads me to fixing something else. I have kinda made my way full circle from replacing the trans to little things under the hood. Im curently working on my heater core and it poped into my head. I need to get my speedometer working. The only thing is I went from my orignal NP-435 with a Dana 21 to a NP435 divorced. I dont have a transfer case behind it its just a longer drive shaft. I was wondering if you guys knew of a add on speedometer that I can install. Because if I am right the speedometer cable goes into the transfer case for the divorced 435. Can anyone help?
It will be much appreciated.
Need Speedometer any ideas.

Could you use the one for an f250 4x4? Should be the same speedometer and the other end to go into a dana 24 transfer case.
Hope this helps.

Guess I should read all the post and under stand it first
. If you use a 2wd tail housing you could run the original speedo cable. Some one correct me if I'm wrong but the tail housings are basically the same (2wd vs. 4wd) except the 4wd housing has the mounts for the shifter.

i think the ouput shaft is sorhter ont he 4wd married transmission. so the tail housign wont fit or work i think is how it goes.
so you are sayign your cable is too short now? there is a guy on ebay selling cables right now for 20.00 plus shipping. he can put any end on them you need. and i think he can have them made to length also. do a ebay search fo rour trucks and the speedo cables.

Re: Need Speedometer any ideas.
I assumed the np435 that he had in his truck is from a F250 4x4 with a divorced transfer case. If that is true(
) I always thought the np435 transmissions were the same (2wd vs. 4wd) on the F250's. The only difference being the tail housing on the 4wd box has the mounts for the transfer case shifter. Both 2wd and divorced np435 boxes should have the speedometer receptilce cast in to the tail housing. This information is what I belive to be correct taking into acount the assumptions I made. Hope in some way this helps.

Doug your 3/4 correct the only thing is there is not insert for my speedometer cable to put in on my NP435 F250 Divorced tail housing. Yes the divorced 435 is the same casing as the 2wd case.Doug Comer wrote:I assumed the np435 that he had in his truck is from a F250 4x4 with a divorced transfer case. Re: Need Speedometer any ideas.
I am pretty sure I could doug but I was lucky to even find a NP435 at all there really isn't much that old around here the old that they have abundence of if like 86 and up. Maybe something will turn up on the site when I have money. Thanks a million for helping out Doug. Maybe a inspection place will let me slide I am pretty sure my old Ag teacher knows someone who will understand my situation when it comes time to get it inspected.
