Re: SQL and CSS issues
Good evening!
I've been hitting these also (both the MySQL and CSS issues) yesterday and today.
I was going to post about it, but then it seemed to go away!

Re: SQL and CSS issues
I got that error at least 30 times today. Usually I refresh the page and keep going.
Sometimes It shuts down for a couple of minutes.
I blame the dentsides for this.... it all began with the dentside forum trying to kill off the bumps!
Keep up the great work Keith!!!

No worries man, I just drop a line to make sure you know (especially when an issue is intermittent in nature).FORDification wrote:Sorry guys....I'm trying to figure it out. Please bear with me.

Re: SQL and CSS issues
I was just coming on here to make a post and see if any one else was having the issue too.
I try not to pressure Keith as I can tell he has a lot on his plate already.
Thanks Keith.

Re: SQL and CSS issues
Here's what's happening, in a nutshell:
Every time you view a page, there are anywhere from 10-15 database queries, including the posts themselves, information on the poster, the time, etc. etc. We are limited to 75,000 database queries per hour, and when that limit is reached, we get the error message. At the end of the hour, the database resets, and we start off again fresh. It's looking like most of you are getting that error message late in a given hour, meaning that we're bumping the upper allowed limits of database queries for that hour.
That being said....I've done some coding to the database configuration file to allow the queries to be spread out over three different authorized database users, which in essence gives us 3 x 75,000 allowed queries per hour, for a total of 225,000. It's been this way for the past several years, and has given us no problems.
However, when I recently tried to install some new forum software, the automated installation program mistakenly tried to install it in the same server directory that our current forum is located. I caught it right away, but not before it wrote over the old configuration file, which messed up the forums. I reuploaded a new config file immediately and got the forums back, but the new config file didn't have the extra user coding. We then started getting the error message, so I then replaced the config file with one which included the coding....but it doesn't seem to be making a difference. We're apparently still hitting our max queries per hour, which puzzles me...'cause we shouldn't be.
Thinking that maybe the search engine bots were running up the queries count, I deactivated permission for all bots last night, meaning they no longer have access to the forum threads. I haven't seen any bots online since, but it appears that we're still getting the error message. At this point, I'm inclined to suggest we give it another day or so to see if things mellow out, and if not, I'll dive into it again.
