Fuel gauge for a stock behind the seat tank/sending unit

Anyone ever replaced or purchased a new fuel gauge? I'm not sure If I could buy any gauge and have it work properly. Any help is appreciated.

i have never done it myself. but you can buy new reproductions of the in tank gauge. i have heard that soem of the places they were bought from came up bad. check the vendors feedback page to find out who. i cant remember and wont guess abotu such things.

Just a bit of information. The gauge is actually in your dash panel and the part that is in the fuel tank is calle a sending unit.

that is why i was getting confused when i posted my reply. yes the sender is available new from the vendors. the gauges can soemtimes be found on ebay.

Yeah I have a new Sender, I just know that some fuel gauges don't work properly with the stock sender. I would like to keep the gauges "stock" I don't want to mount any gauges in the truck.

A stock Ford sending unit has different sending values than a GM piece, for example. The Ford piece needs to have a 73-10 Ohms range (up through '88), whereas the GM unit would have a range of 0-90 Ohms. As long as you have the stock gauge and a regular Ford replacement sending unit, you'll be fine.
