ford brake lights

OK so as everyone knows i bought a 1991 ford f250 this last summer and since Ive own it Ive never had brake lights. However i do have all other lights working in the vehicle. so first things first I've taken a look at the bulbs and they are good. checked fuses once again good. checked visible wiring and yet again what i saw looked good (damn chassis wiring runs up above the two gas tanks under the truck bed).
so my question is what would be the best way to trace where my issue is. does anybody have a wiring diagram?

Also i have a few more issues that im not sure if they tie in but they are exsitant, turn signal switch is bad on the left side, i have to click it down like you normaly would but then i have to bump it up just alittle to get the front turn signal to work. I also have two tanks on the truck but only the back one works.

If anyone can help i would appreciate it

I'm betting that your Brake light problem is also related to the Turn Signal Switch being bad. The brake light power goes through the TSS and it sounds like the contacts in the switch are bad, as you need to fix that anyways I would start there.
On the tanks it could be the selector switch or more likely the valve in the line that switches from the one tank to the other.

Nickabocker, pm me your email address and on monday I'll send you a wire diagram. First things first you need to check your brake light switch. you should have power on one side all the time and power on the other only when you push the brakes. On the fuel pump problem stick you ear up to the gas tank and have some one turn the key on. If it doesn't work (or you cain't hear it) its either the pump or the switch. I don't think 92 had that valve. They have one pump per tank. I think that valve was set up for the one pump systems. Look at the front pump connector. I think it is the red wire that should have power. You should be able to pull it down enuf to get to it. Let me know your engine size to or better yet give me the last eight of your vin. I work at a Ford house so I can look it up. But like Thunderfoot said you do need to replace that switch either way because your brake lights do run through that.

92? Melted (internally) brake switches aren't uncommon. At the dealership, I usually jumped both ends of the connector with a heavy paper clip and walked around back to verify.

Ok ill check that in the mourning,

On the front tank i already have the answer, when i push the switch in the cab to the front i can here it humming even when the truck is shut off. on that note i have noticed that when i am doing a long drive sometimes my back pump will hum or whine (guess it depends on your ears, but basically it sounds like a diesel fuel pump when it is priming the system) for a good 10-15 mins after shutting the truck off... Ive checked if it is pumping fuel it isn't wasting my fuel (thank god the 460 is a big motor)

but anyways the front pump does make nosie of some sort but when i switch over my fuel gage ...wooooooooooooo right down to empty and dies
