I have a 1970 F100 with a 302 and I'm trying to figure out rebel-wire's 9+3 kit. This is my first time rewiring a car but I think I got it all figured out except for the solenoid wiring. They show 3 wires going into the distributor while my distributor only has one coming from the neg terminal on the solenoid. Also they have a box on their diagram I can't figure out. I run the coil wire to the I terminal of the solenoid with a splice going over to the + terminal on the coil right?
that looks like the wiring for duraspark? if you have 1 wire going to the distributor its a points-type distributor, duraspark is supposed to be a good upgrade, if your interested. Im sure someone here can explain how to wire it with what you have, though
That diagram is for a Duraspark-II ignition... The Box in the diagram is the control box for the Duraspark distributor which has 3 wires on it. For what you are going with a Point distributor you will just use the Pink wire to the (+) coil (be sure that this wire is a Resistive wire or you put a ballast resister in) and hook the wire from the distributor to the (-) side of the coil.

If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...
Thanks so much! I got things hooked up and the truck runs but I have nothing going to the "I" terminal of the solenoid. I'm assuming this also goes to the coil to provide 12volts during start up? I'll test the coil wire later to see if it drops it to6volts and if not try and find a ballast resistor.

Correct It helps for cold starts, goes to the (+) side of the coil.

I picked up an ru11 resistor but I don't think it was the right one as it started smoking last time I started the truck. I'll go pick up an ru17 a litlle later and see what happens.
Current wire status is:
Engine wired and runs but I need to replace the ballast resistor.
Alternator/regulator wired up and reading 13.85volts at the battery
Headlights wired and high/low beam functions work.
Running lights wired and working on all four corners .
Hazard lights wired and working.
Turn signals wired but not working.
Brake lights wiredand working.
Dash gauges I haven't even looked at yet.
Found my problem was I had no power to the turn signal fuse on the fusesbox. Fixed that and everything is good now. Next I'm taking on the wiper motor then gauges.
