Voltage Regulator Wiring

Post by Caseys71 »

I'm trouble-shooting the starting problem I'm having with my '71 and I seem to be missing wire 904 to the regulator as seen in this diagram:
Image
Can any body tell me where it originates from because I'm not sure I can identify exactly which connections it is part of. TIA  :fr:.

I took another look and was able to trace 904 back to the 2-flat plug that it meets at, 904 is a green wire with a red stripe and shares the 2-flat with a yellow wire with a green stripe that goes to the horn. Now I'm thinking that it's actually wire 35 which appears to share the same post on the alternator as wire 4 :hmm:. So what I'm wondering is if I could run a wire from the alternator post that wire 4 goes to, to the corresponding spot on the 4 way connector at the regulator :? :help:.

Thanks for the help dragon . I took a look and believe that I was looking at the diagram backwards and that 35 is the wire that is actually missing :?, if so it appears from the origin of the wire coming from the alternator that it is ran into a bullet shaped connector of some sort (Not really sure what the connector is or does?) that is bolted to the top mounting hole on the regulator rather than being ran into the top spot on the 4 way plug to the regulator  :hmm:.

35 is the field control wire from the regulator. The connector on the top of the regulator bolt is for a ground so plug and ground could be taken from the alternator without a bolt removal.

152 is a sense wire to se if the alternator needs to ramp up the charge. It is at Bat+ voltage.
