Gauge testing

Post by OldRedFord »

How can I safely check the gauges in the dash to see if they are working properly? Other then grounding out the wire that goes to the sender?

Use a mechanical pressure gauge to compare to your oil pressure gauge, an infrared temp gun or thermometer to compare your temp gauge and a DVOM to compare your Alt gauge...

On the parts truck the fuel gauge does not work. The oil pressure gauge was replaced with a mechanical one, but the tube broke to that one. I cant remember right now if the alternator gauge works or not. Id like to check everything out before listing the dash cluster for sale.
