Ballast resistor/wire

Post by whitesmoke »

On my son's '67 F100 (352 -auto) we temporarily have 12v from "on" position of ign switch wired to coil. Eventually,
hopefully b4 we burn up the points, will move this wire to "start" terminal and run ballast resistor/wire from "on" to
coil. Does this vehicle use a ballast resistor or a ballast wire? Thanks in advance for the info.

these trucks use a resistor wire. it is the pink wire running from the ignition switch to the coil. it will also be joined by the full 12 volt(start only) wire from the starter fender relay.

Just a side note in case you don't already know, but you can drop in a DSII distributor, module and later coil. Then you don't have to worry about the resister wire, points adjustment and such, plus ya get some hotter fire out of the deal.

You folks are really on top of it here..thanks for the info. Given the age of the vehicle, pink is a relative term but I now know what that wire lying
loose about 6" from the coil is for!
