What do yall recommend for stopping rust and sealing off the seat frame and springs? I ripped all the material off of it yesterday. I would hate to recover it and then the springs rust through or something because I skipped a simple step.
Thanks

Well, you could blast it and powdercoat it. I don't know what that would cost, though.

Re: 67' bench seat
Ive seen some posts referring to rust killer...is it a product that is reliable. I mean can ya spray somethin with rust killer then paint it and the rust wont come back underneath your paint a couple years down the road? Im just trying to get all the step down in my head.
Lemme see if i have a basic grasp of it...
1)Strip the metal as best as possible.
2) Have the metal acidified, or use some sort of rust killer
3)Apply POR 15 or a single or 2 stage sort of epoxy or paint
4) Then seal that with a topcoat of paint
Is that the general idea on parts like chassis, underbody, mayb a seat frame or bare floor of cab, engine well?
Theres just soo many processes and products frequently talked about here, Im just trying to weed out what the best process and material is best for each part.

Re: 67' bench seat
seat springs wont be in contact with outside weather very much. humidity is probably the worse thing fo rthe springs. i dont know how much rust yours has on it. but mine just have a powder coating of rust over them. so they arent bad. i could probably clean the rust off of them with some steel wool and use a good spray paint and mine would be good. how ever my seat is already covered. so i will not remove the covering to repaint the springs. since the only time i will see them is if the seat is flipped forward. so i guess it depends on how much rust your has on it. as to how to treat your springs. the worse off they are the more you would want to do something to them.
