Rob,
what did you do for coating on the inner fender brackets attached to the firewall?? Im thinking there might be clearance issue if that is coated and the inner fender to get that to get in there?

Ryan and Todd, The coating I used is Rhino Liner. It is tintable so you can make it the exact same color as you are spraying the rest of the truck. I used this on the inner fenders, wheel wells and aprons.
As for the firewall brackets, those are painted. Only the inside part of the fender apron was coated and there was no problems with clearance.
The power port would look good in place of the ash tray, just looks cleaner and less cluttered. It was easy to fill it in too
I can't remember where I found the thread for the aux battery tray. Try a search and see if it comes up.
Waynaferd,Regarding the Frame, I took it to Redi-strip and had them dunk it for me, came out brand new clean. I also had some pitting in the sides and I just used a Primer surfacer and sprayed 3-4 good coats and sanded it smooth. I then applied an epoxy primer and then eastwoods porcelain urethane chassis black paint. Very happy with the outcome, it was a lot of work.

Just finished putting on the passenger side mouldings tonight. Here are a few pics.

Here are the B pillar mouldings
Image
I had to cut the end piece from a pair of front fender mouldings and weld an aluminum plate on the end
Image
I then ground down the end piece to match the "bump"
Image
Image
checking the fit
Image
aligning it with the front door moulding
Image
and then installing the fabricated rear door moulding
Image
Tricky getting all the mouldings to line up nice. here is the rear door and B pillar mouldings
Image
Image
The passenger side all done. had to do the same thing to the rocker mouldings
Image

Here is a view of the dash with the glove box installed and the double din installed. I need to have a face plate CNC'ed for the stereo face to clean things up.
Image

Got the tool box door handle chromed and the mouldings installed. the door moulding was really a mess but the polishing shop did a great job cleaning it up.

Polished mirrors on now too :woohoo:

I will be working on the hood this weekend. Hopefully I can paint it next weekend.

I'll hafta find some of that "elbow-grease" stuff to get mine clean...there's no places like that around here to dunk it.

Anyway, thanks for the info how you did it!! I'd like to get mine smooth enough to spray some glossy glossy color onto. We shall see how that turns out :D

rattlecan, I'd like to pick your brain on the frame stretch.. My plan is to use my 67 CC frame with the front half of a 72 F-250 4x4 frame. prelim measurements say I will make the cuts under the rear floor on the CC and behind the divorced transfer case on the 4x4 (I think..it's been a while since I was under there). The cutting and welding is no prob for me, but I'm questioning the elevations of my cab/rad support mounts on both trucks, especially the 4x4.. there are a lot of shims under the core support and she's not been treated kindly over the years. where did you get the dimensions to build your frame? I thought about duplicating the CC dimensions, but it would be nice if there was some reference material to check against.

Thanks, Eric

just for fun here's pics of both trucks

Hey everyone,
It has been awhile and work has been slow. I have been working on my dads 58 ford fairlane, he needed my help with getting it finished for the car show in august. I will post some pics of that In a few days, it is a really neat car.
But I wanted to let everyone know that my truck will not be done for Hot August Nights. I will, however have it at Knotts Berry ford show this coming april.
I also have more pics of my new seats that I will post as well.
