Re: NSS wiring
yes the resistor wire goes up throught the firewall where it is suppose to change colors on the outside of the firewall and hook to the coil.
the nss plug may have the manual transmission bypass plug pluged into the plug for the nss switch ont he column. the bypass plug looks liek the one in this picture. just unplug it and plug your switch into the harness plug. without the nss beign plugged into the harness the back up lights may not work either.

Re: NSS wiring
Ok thanks fordman. I didnt remember my old harness having the loop plug but wasnt sure.As for the resistor wire on my old harness the resistor wire came out the fire wall into the eng.compartment and was then rolled up and just sat on top of the engine not hooked up to anything.I figured it was to the old oil press.sending unit that was replaced with a gauge with a oilline. I noticed when looking for the NSS plug after running the truck the wires off the ign.switch felt abit warm, wonder if something is hooked up wrong.

Re: NSS wiring
i think the wires after the leave the firewall are red and one has a white stripe. i think i didnt look to be sure. but one red one goes to the coil and the other goes to the water temp.
