67 only hazard switch and brake switch pic needed
when i got my 67 the brake warning wire to the valve was missing. i replaced it with a 68-72 dual purple wire that ran up the firewall . but could only hook it up when i put in a 69 harness. now that i have a 67 harness again i am trying to put it in my 67. but the dual wires aren't correct for the 67 harness. it only has a single wire to the brake warning switch. so i guess what i need is a photo of the 67 only brake warning switch and or the wire and socket used to hook to it.
the hazard switch i had a question about too. since the 67 had only a square type of hazard can do i have to use the certain hazard can or can i just use one from a 68-72 instead? i think i can but i think i read that there will be different voltages or something about the change in flashers.

Re: 67 only hazard switch and brake switch pic needed
ok i found out about the hazard switch thing. it is a dual hazard switch i guess. so i must use the dual hazard switch or get two single hazard switches. since my cluster didnt have any wiring on it i dont know what i am going to do now. i may search ebay for a 67 only harness for my cluster. i do have a 69 cluster i was going to use but i will see what i can find first.

ok one more thing. the 67 wiper wiring shows that it has two wirs on the back only. a black and a black/white. yet this truck has the regular 68 and up wiper motor and switch. but no place to plug in the regular round orange power wire into the 67 harness. only a flay black wire that i remember seeign. what is goign on? has this motor and switch been changed out?

ok so here is a thought. if disc brakes were put onto a 67. and you put the pro valve on for disc brakes how would the pro valve be wired in to work properly? since the 67 only has one wire and the pro valve would have two wires?

I'm not totally sure since I don't have any experience with a 67 but my thought is that you would just attach the wire from the 67 to any one of the two wires on the plug from the newer pro valve. The reason (I think) for having 2 wires in the 68 and later trucks is that it's a safety feature. If for any reason the wires aren't plugged into the valve the light won't light up when you start the truck. The light is supposed to come on when you start (only in the start position) your truck and if it does it means that everything related to the pressure differential valve is working properly. That is the way I understand it. I might be wrong.

Re: 67 only hazard switch and brake switch pic needed
after i posted this i was checking otu both the 67 and ther 69 diagrams for this circut. and they both end up in the same place its just the 67 supposedly has a single pin to plug into on the brake switch. so i cant use the dual wires i have hooked to it now. i am not sure right now how to make this work right. i guess i would have to splice into the 67 main wirign and run a jumper for the dual wires into the 67 harness to make the final connection. i need to study it more i guess.

I'm a bit confused on your wires, but if you had all 67 wiring and were using a 68+ switch all you would do is plug the "1" wire from the 67 harness into 1 of the newer switch terminals (doesn't matter which one)...
The 67 wiring has a wire spliced into the 1 wire to the switch that goes to the Ignition Switch that gets grounded just before the start position to make the dash light come on, the 68+ has this same wire it is just wired to the second terminal on the switch so that better confirms that the wires are hooked up to the switch where as the 67 you could unhook the wire at the switch and the light on the dash would still look/work good when turning the ignition switch but it's really not as it was unhooked...

well i looked at the diagrams and they are kind of the same for the 67 and other years. but the 67 has one wire coming up off of the distribution block. and the 68 and up has two wires coming off of it.

but the function of the switch is still the same (it grounds to itself "the chases" when there is a fault), this is what turns on the light having a ground for the light. The only difference between the "1" wire and "2" wire switch is that on the 67 it has wire 511 going to the ignition switch (the ignition switch grounds in the start position) then 511A goes to the light, the 68+ has these same two wires as 977 and 977A they are just connected at the switch (internal to the switch they are connected/spliced together). You could take the 2 wires on a 68+ and hook them together and plug them into either terminal on the switch and it would work as normal or you can take a "2" wire switch and install it on a 67 and just plug the single wire into one of the two terminals and it will work just as the one wire one.fordman wrote:well i looked at the diagrams and they are kind of the same for the 67 and other years. but the 67 has one wire coming up off of the distribution block. and the 68 and up has two wires coming off of it.
As I stated before they run both wires (68+) separately to the switch, so if one of the wires comes off the terminal at the switch the "ignition check" would not light the light. Where as the 67 would still show that the light works for the "ignition check" if the wire came off the switch, but if the distribution block trips the switch you wouldn't know it...
The 2 wire setup is a better/safer wiring of this circuit.
Hope that clears it up better

yes. but how do you hook up the wire without chopping and hacking the haresses?
