CD Player Issue
Hello!
I recently put a new battery into my truck and wasn't paying attention to which way I had put it in, and I stupidly connected the Positive Cable to the Negative post, and something attached to my starter relay smoked and sizzled. After quickly removing the cable and hooking the battery up the RIGHT way, the only casualty so far that I can tell is the aftermarket CD player.
I checked the fuses and nothing needed to be replaced.
Anyone have any ideas?

Re: CD Player Issue
it might have ate the radio. since the power was going the other way the fuse may not have blown. mayeb the ground wire is burnt up.

Re: CD Player Issue
How do I find the ground wire?
Sounds like either way I am going to need a new deck?

Re: CD Player Issue
Which fuses did you check? The ones at the trucks fuse block?
Usually there are two inline fuses behind an aftermarket radio in the wiring leading to it. I'd be sure to check those before you write off the CD player.
You would think that the aftermarket manufacturers would spend on a couple diodes to prevent their radios from getting smoked in such a situation.

I checked the fuses underneath on the firewall on the drivers side, I checked the fuse that's inside a plastic holder near the starter relay, I checked the 2 that were behind the deck. Those were all fine.
All the wires that are for the after market deck are red, I didn't find a black one.
I am very puzzled.

it might just be a body ground type of ground too. so there may not be a wire. its possibly toast.

Re: CD Player Issue
awesome. so here's my next silly question. They guy I bought it from installed an mp3 jack for ipods and such. Do I NEED a working radio deck in the truck to use that? Or is the jack wired into my speakers.

Re: CD Player Issue
The radio has to work as that is the amplifier for the mp3 player to power the speakers.

Re: CD Player Issue
sounds like i should just spend the money and get a new deck instead of an ipod.
