I've tested the sending unit and it's fine. (I even bought a new one.) I have also tested the wire that connects to the gauge cluster and it seems fine. (It's just a ground that runs through the sending unit....right?)

When I test the voltage at the gauge, I get the variable reading. Is that normal? If so, then it would make sense to me that the gauge is bad.

Can anyone tell me what voltage range I should be seeing across my temp gauge? I'm thinking more and more that the gauge is bad.

You should see pulsing 5V.

An analog meter works best for checking this.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???
