TRAILER LIGHT ISSUES...

Post by SangerDude »

Hi Guys,

Well, I have a 68 camper special that had the original 4 pin round on the rear bumper, got ambitous and went to pick and pull and pulled off a hitch to put on the truck too....anyway, I got it all wired up for a 7 pin round now, but I dont have trailer lights when I turn on the head lights of the truck, got the left and the right at the pins when I check it with a test light but no trailer lights with headlight switch....I was curious where this wire originates from as it heads back to the rear bumper?

Thanks one and all!

God Bless our troops!!!

http://www.fordification.com/tech/wiring/68-23.jpg from the battery to the headlight switch and the turn signal switch out to the drivers side firewall down in frotn and under the cab back to the bumper than it splits off and goes to each tail light. if you spliced into the camper wiring http://www.fordification.com/tech/wiring/68-47.jpg that is wrong.

All I actually did was take the four wires, the ground, the left and right turns, and the trailer light wires out of the four round and solder and shrink tube these wires to the new 7 round kit....in their appropriate spots...its just that I dont have any juice to the TL output on the 7 round when I turn on the headlights to the truck...so I have to chase it down and see if it grounded out or has been cut...

the wire in question would be spliced into either one of the taillights OR the license lights. just trace it because if the truck has taillights it would have to be the connection
