Custom Indicator Lights?
Any body here do any customizing to the dash indicator lights? I had what I thought was a brilliant idea to put in some jewel indicators, but they wont fit under the clear cluster lens. I'm not going to cut that either. I was thinking of modifying some l.e.d. and see if I can get them to fit thruough the arrow shaped hole... ![Hmmm :hmm:](./images/smilies/icon_hm.gif)

Yeah, I lost the green lens to mine, so I was thinking of going a different route...

Re: Custom Indicator Lights?
When I was a youngster I replaced the green lenses in one of my cars' dash (don't remember which one) with some bluish plastic I found somewhere, don't remember why though...I may have been under the 'fluence of somethin' ![Loco :loco:](./images/smilies/icon_loco.gif)

Re: Custom Indicator Lights?
Mine were in somewhat reasonable shape, I just can't find them for the life of me, and now that I am finally finishing my reworking of the instrument cluster its time for the little stuff like that to be present and accounted for. LOL I'll figure something out I'm sure of it... Just dunno when that something will be. LOL

Re: Custom Indicator Lights?
What I did to mine was move the green lenses for the turn signal because after close to 40 years the arrow shape was very faded. I was able to move the lenses over a bit to make it work. I changed the high beam indicator light lens from red to blue. I never liked the red one, now it looks nice.

They sell the red high beam indicator lens in the kit, not the blue. I will continue searching...

Re: Custom Indicator Lights?
It's just a piece of plastic taped on the back of the gauge. I just cut a piece of blue plastic out of the dash of a wrecked Grand Prix (any newer vehicle should have it) that my friend had there. The plastic was not seethrough, it had a 'headlight emblem' on it but I just scrapped the to layer off and what was left was a piece of nice seethrough blue plastic which I stuck on the back of the gauge in place of the red one. I don't know if my discription makes sence.91Bear wrote:How did you change it?ForingaMex wrote:I changed the high beam indicator light lens from red to blue. Re: Custom Indicator Lights?
I'm thinking I may have to go MacGyver on this, and figure out an alternative. I dont know what happened to all the original peices for my cluster i.e. the tubes and thier seals, and the lens' for the indicators and the high beam light...
