Neutral safty switch

Post by hazelnut »

I got a 69 highboy that i used a cab from a 69 ranger 2wd auto, i used the steering colume and foot pedels from the highboy cab and swaped over to the new cab. tryed to start the other day but couldnt get the switch to start the truck and had to jump the solinoid to start. Today i traced the wire from the soloniod to the switch to see if i could find the problem, found a 4 prong plug that i could put in a jumper to start the truck but dont see anything for it to plug into. i went out to the old cab to see if their was something for a safty switch and found nothing, Did the 69 highboys come with a neutral safty switch ? if it did im sure it was on the clutch peddle right ? looked at the electrical drawing on site and see the plug in the wireing harness but dont see anything coming off from it. Looked at the wireing harness on the highboy cab and it dosent have the 4 prong plug in the harness. I know i could put a jumper and have the truck start with that but i would like to have a saftey switch if the truck come with it. You never know who might want to jump in and turn the switch playing and end up driveing into something.

all manual truck have a premade jumper that jumps the sire for the nss bypass. all automatic trucks have a nss on the bottom of the column. the nss plugs into the main wirieng harness through theat plug you found. that is also where the bypass wire plugs into. you should be able to swap it from your first cab to the other cab. here is a picture of the nss bypass plug for the manual trans trucks.

The jumper is a good spot to wire in a hidden kill switch if you're worried about theft :2cents:

Thanks fordman, thats kind of what i was thinking from what i seen but i wouldnt have thought that a auto would get one and a manule wouldnt. The old highboy cab dosent have a 4 prong plug built into the wireing harness so i cant use what it never had haha. Guess ill get a breaklight switch and modify something to work on the clutch pedal. Thanks for the help.
Papabug, that would work great if the hood would lock, if i figure a way to use a dents locking hood controls ill put in a kill switch. i not worried about theft to much as i am a kid getting inside and playing with the key and starting the truck and driveing into something.

it has one for sure it is just hidden or it has been cut off and spliced together after the plug.
