no dash lights

Recently purchased a 1970 f-100, on the way home I realized that the dash light's were not working . I have replaced all the fuses and all of the bulb's in the cluster and still don't have any light's . I am in the process of checking the headlight switch, If any one could help with trouble shooting my problem it would be greatly appreciated.Thank's

turn the headlight switch to undim the lights. if that isnt the problem check for power to the bulb sockets. then check to make sure the fuses are working and providing power across them.

Thank's fordman , I have checked all of the fuses for continuity and they are fine, the light socket's have no power to them, I checked all of the fuse socket's and the one that say's instrument cluster doesn't have any power to it.

chek the back of the fuse box to make sure the wire is still hooked up to the fuse box terminal. then yo uhave to trace the wire up to i think the ignition switch to find otu why it isnt suppling power to that fuse. there is a wiring diagram for the 70 on the site. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... master.jpg

There is a rheostat dimmer built into the head light switch. VERY COMMON for this to become corroded and not pass power.

1. With the lights on - twist the knob back and forth many times to break off some of the crud. Commonly you will find a single spot where the lights come on
2. Squirt some WD-40 into and on the switch and again turn it on/off and twist the knob to clean off the crud.
3. Remove the switch and disassemble and clean the rehostat. (Small wire brush and light sand paper)
4. Replace the swtich.

I took the headlight switch out and cleaned the rehostat, Now I have light's! Thank's Guy's

i did the same thing...i turned mine back and forth a bunch of times and got the contact back
