On each side of the seat, about an inch in from the hinge there is a stop. The seat part has what looks like about a 1 inch hex nut with about a 1/4 inch diameter tapered stud sticking up. It corresponds with a metal plate on the bottom of the back rest. It looks like the stud is adjustable to control the angle of the back.

i'm not sure all seats had that. becasue of the seat safety regulation made by the government back in the day. some seats were botled down from the factory and could not even be rasied forward. i can't recall when that was put into affect or on which trucks it was done to.
