flasher rates

i ahve been doing some research. on flahsers and the rate at which they flash. can anyone help explain better what rates my 67 F250 camper special is suppose to have? i cant find any info on the funny square box that it uses. the part number on the unit is D2TB-13350-AA 12 VOLT 8HB DOT. THE 8HB is what i cant find out about. that has to be the rate of flash. and is it correct for my truck?

I had a '67 with a big flasher box, it was loud too.
when it went out I replaced it with a round can made for 3 ? bulbs so it wouldn't flash too fast with a trailer.

i like how loud they are. and mine has different wiring prongs. so any old flasher unit wont fit the prongs. mine has one male and one female.

The flasher rate is based off the load (amount of lights) on the flasher, this is why if you have a trailer and a standard or week flasher that the lights flash faster with the trailer lights plugged in then with out. If you take a flasher from a 68+ truck it will flash the same as both trucks (67 and newer) as they have the same load for normal use (same light bulbs). The only difference is that I think some of the 67's only have one flasher that is used for both the TS and the hazards, so I would get a heavy duty flasher so that it can handle all 4 lights on with the hazards on. To not hack up your wiring I would make a short jumper wire that has a male connector on one end and female on the other so you can plug the new flasher in.

i already have correct the square flasher. i was just wondering if the 8 hb was the rate of the flasher and if that rate was correct for my single flasher truck.

I don't mean to thread jack, but since this is about flasher's, I thought maybe it would be appropriate. Is there any way to make them flash quicker? Mine seem to be slower than dirt, as if father time himself installed the flashers and set them on slow.

yes the flash rate is how fast or slow they go. as thunderfoot said you can use a heavy duty flasher. or hazard flasher in th eblinker flasher plug to make the blinker blink faster. i think the heavy duty flasher number is 552. that is the flasher you will want to ask for at the parts store. a 552 flasher can. the original tss flasher can is a 224. i think that is all correct.

Other way around... The heavy duty flasher will usually blink Slower then a Normal flasher...
Also, check all your bulbs if any are burnt out and not working the blink will be real slow, as there is less load on it.
Could also be the flasher just needs replaces as it is getting old and worn out.

yes the 224 flasher is the faster blinking flasher i found out when i was testing flashers early this morning. but i only had it hooked up to one bulb when i did the testing of all the flashers i have.

Ok. Well, I did think of the flasher could be the issue, I don't think it's a bulb. They all come on, though the pass. side only flashes if I turn them on then off...on then off....repeat until turning...
