wierd mirror

i was at the scrap yard the other day and spotted what i thought was a 1967 mirror (the one that bolts to the cab) and i went to remove it. after taking it off i went to check if it would fit. not only was it the wrong contour, it had 4 screws instead of 3. i looked closer at the truck and it was a newer truck with a plastic and aluminum grill. it's set up for the visors to clip into the mirror bracket but it's not a 67? it looked like a ranger xlt in case that helps. i'd like to know if anyone can shed some light on this matter.
