rELATED PROBLEM - COILS DON'T LAST VERY LONG - voltage is right, but long hiway runs seem to lead to coils overheating. Not fun to get stuck on the beltway at rush hour. 1970 F100 360 3sp farm & ranch special. Tired of replacing coils. Definitely coil - I've diagnosed for fuel and shorts.

i had the same problem minus the correct voltage. are you still running points or have you switched to pointless ignition?

Still use points - original distributor; new points 2 years ago, new coil 8 months ago, new condenser same time (from LMC)

What is the voltage on the + side of the coil?

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!
