Re: TAIL LIGHTS
the grounds for the rear lights in the bed. come from the taillight housing grounding to the bed via the tail light housing screws. adn then the bed grounds to the frame which completes the circut for the ground. i would check the paint between the housing and the bed. it almost has to be a ground problem i would think.

Re: TAIL LIGHTS
You can also test the individual bulb contacts with a test light (just be careful not to touch the socket when probing the contacts). Test for ground with the test light clamp hooked to positive. Check turn sig switch wire connections and fuses.

Re: TAIL LIGHTS

After the above, I would go to the harness connector under the hood-by the firewall (where the power for the rear lights originate) and check for voltage there.

Re: TAIL LIGHTS
Did you check the bulbs?
The parking light function is on a separate filament in the brake/turn signal bulbs.
Backup lights have no correlation to these lights.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

Re: TAIL LIGHTS
that is a licence plate light wire. the only ground is the bed to the frame and housing to the bed. if it is a ground problem then it would be to the frame. but if everything else is working that probably isnt the problem. can you push in on the bulb and make them work? maybe the guts are worn down and not makign good contact with the bulb.

Re: TAIL LIGHTS
It turns out that the body shop rigged the tail light wire into the molded plug , so somewhere along the line they severed it when they disassembled the bed from the from the frame so i found another plug at a junk yard (luckily, undid all the tape wrap from the tail light to to front of the truck ) there was also a small nick in the brown wire(tail light wire) at the wire tie down strap causing the problem , thanks for all your help !! Regards Mike
