low hump vs high hump what years
i know i read on the site somewhere that the C6 transmission was the only cab to use the high hump. other than maunal floor shift transmissions. but i cant find that page anymore. my question is were the low humps not used after a certain year? and they were all made with high humps with the removable cover after that year? or did that start in 73?

Re: low hump vs high hump what years
My 70 with a C6 has the high hump with removable cover.
I was at the pull-a-part last week and saw a 72 with a 3-speed that had the solid floor.

Re: low hump vs high hump what years
i believe the column mount 3 speeds c4 and fmx had a low hump, c6 and floor mount shift had the removable high hump
73 and newer had the high hump stamped on the floor board
i have a 69 390 c6 and it has a high hump, i also have a 76 390 c6 for parts and that cab has a stamped high hump
my bro in law has a 76 which originaly had a 300 3 speed column shift and that cab also has the high hump stamped on the floor.
just my 2 cents

some guys have put a c6 in a low hump truck with no problem they said. the 4 spd would have a cover that is removeable. since you have a floor shifter the hump cover will have a hole in it. for the shifter so you will have to cover the hole if you put a C6 in there. or get a automatic hump cover.

thanks ford I will just make a cover too fit over the hole and screw it in and just use the hole for high and low for the transfercase.

My 71 F100 was a 302 3 speed with the low hump. I put a c-6 in there with the ribbed back and had to grind down a couple the ribs to keep them from rubbing but that was allfordman wrote:some guys have put a c6 in a low hump truck with no problem they said. the 4 spd would have a cover that is removeable. since you have a floor shifter the hump cover will have a hole in it. for the shifter so you will have to cover the hole if you put a C6 in there. or get a automatic hump cover.

Re: low hump vs high hump what years
Trying to figure out which automatic transmission I have in my 1971 F-250 Camper Special 390 and if it's High or Low hump to order the correct molded carpet. All I get from the VIN is an Automatic letter code. Mine has a hump but w/o anything to compare to, I don't know if it's High or Low. What's a good way to identify your transmission and high or low hump?
Here are some pix that might help for someone who knows:
